Val Hilsley works as a psychodynamic counsellor, who believes that many issues that people struggle with, have their roots and origins in earlier life experiences.

She gained her diploma from Chelmsford counselling foundation, an affiliate of wpf therapy, London Bridge, one of the earliest counselling and psychotherapy training centres in the country. SHe has graduated with the post-graduate diploma from wpf therapy.

She is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling.(FPC).  She is also a qualified and experienced social worker and teacher.

As a social worker Val worked in the Probation Service, in Fostering and in Child Care, where she gained a lot of experience dealing with child protection matters. 

Val has worked as a counsellor for Marriage Care, helping people who were experiencing problems in their relationships.

Val has also worked as a counsellor for Womens's Aid, helping women who have sufferered domestic violence and abuse.

She and is currently working in mental health for the NHS as an Honorary therapist, and has a private pracitice in Chelmsford and London.

Val is experienced in working with people who are suffering low self esteem and believes in the individual’s ability to recover and gain control over their lives.
